Multiple Choice

Through WECS I hold a lot of review sessions for mandatory computer science courses and I often brainstorm different ways to make our practice exams content effectively hit both the theory and practice of computer programming. Then I came up with the idea of a multiple choice test about Java written in Java and I had to create it. This project demonstrates an interactive practice test that demonstrated both the theory and practice of programming in Java.

Mental Math

Although there are a lot of cases about digital technology making people more impatient, dependent and lazy, I believe it can also be used to make people self-reliant, creative, and educated. Technology is a powerful tool, it is important to use it wisely. I created this program to help me get better at holding numbers in my head. Whether it is being able to calculate a rough estimation of my total before reaching the till at the supermarket, or trusting myself in adding single digit numbers without pulling out my calculator.

Daisy: Safer Together

Safer Together is a project that provides anyone, especially women, with a buddy system for navigating rural or public areas that are typically unsafe or uncomfortable for them to be alone in. Need to walk by a dangerous street or alley late at night? Need a bus buddy that goes to your school? Don't have anyone to go see that awesome concert or club with? Just moved to a new city not knowing anyone?

Hopping Through History

“Hopp-ing Through History” is a web browser game that raises awareness about women in technology and the struggles they have faced throughout history. We wanted to create an easy yet aesthetically pleasing game that would educate players about the impact of women in technology to reduce gender bias.
